What hardware do I need with EasyTac software?
In addition to the EasyTac downloader software, you will need two pieces of hardware:
- Firstly, a standard PC/SC smart card reader to connect to your PC via USB and read your driver cards. Read this tacho card reader comparison to learn more about our recommended tacho card readers. When activating the software for first use on a PC, a card reader that meets the above specification is required to read the software licence activation card.
- Secondly, a vehicle download device for transferring vehicle unit (VU) data to your PC via USB. EasyTac is compatible with all vehicle unit download devices.
How does EasyTac download tachograph data?
EasyTac is a simple and straightforward tacho data and driver card download solution. It allows you to comply with the UK and EU legal requirements to download, review and store your tachograph data. If you leave EasyTac running on your PC, as soon as a driver card or vehicle unit download units are connected, EasyTac will automatically retrieve the data: 
How does EasyTac enable me to view and manage my tachograph data?
After a card or vehicle unit has been downloaded, you will see the driver’s name or the vehicle registration appear in the list shown in the main software window: 
To help you stay on top of your downloads, EasyTac provides a visual reminder for when to download your tachograph cards or vehicle data. Double click a name or vehicle registration to view the data downloaded. A new window opens and you can select the day or days you wish to view. The data is shown in colour-coded timelines and other easy-to-read formats. 
EasyTac also generates printouts, which is useful, if you want to highlight infringements to drivers and ask them to acknowledge these with a signature. 
The data downloaded is automatically stored on your PC in the format required by the authorities. You may wish to inspect historical files. You can also keep a backup of these on an EasyTac memory stick. 
If you have a large number of vehicles and drivers, and don’t want to inspect the data yourself, these files can be sent to specialist analysis services.
